themisim.build_pilot(spec, *, data_root=None, artifacts=None, checkpoint=None, device='auto', batch_size=128, num_workers=4, workers=4, download=True, verify_checksums=True, strict_checksums=False, validate=True, on_progress=None)

Download, build and (by default) validate one pilot slice.

Delegates the actual build to themisim.pipeline.build_index() unchanged — the point of a pilot is to exercise the production path, not a parallel one. What this adds is the pinned input set, isolated output directories, a post-build check that the realized artifacts match the spec, and the validation report.

checkpoint=None fetches and SHA-256-verifies the encoder weights.
